A VPN with no sign-up: how it works

Most VPNs ask for an email and a password before you can connect, and many free ones show ads or sell what they learn about you. sNova does neither. There is no account and no ads; you pay for Unlimited through Apple, and that is the whole relationship. Here is how that works.

Why there is no account

An account exists to recognise you. sNova does not need to recognise you; it needs to recognise your device, so that your subscription can be checked and restored. The app generates an identifier for the device and keeps it in the device keychain. That is what the subscription status is tied to.

Because there is no email, there is nothing to leak, nothing to spam and nothing to reset. Your purchase belongs to your Apple Account, so a new phone or a reinstall needs only Restore Purchases.

What you pay for

Unlimited: no traffic limit, every country we offer, no ads, no speed cap. It is sold through Apple as an annual or a monthly subscription. The annual plan starts with a free trial for new subscribers; its length and the price after it are shown before you confirm.

The subscription renews automatically unless you cancel in your Apple Account at least 24 hours before the period ends, and it can be restored on any device signed in to the same Apple Account.

How it pays for itself

Subscriptions pay for the servers. There is no second income stream: no advertising, no data brokers, no bundled software. That is why we gain nothing from knowing who you are.

What we keep instead of your email

The device identifier, how many bytes it moved and through which country, and the subscription status Apple reports. Not the sites you visit, not your address, not your name. The Privacy Policy lists every item and how long it is kept.

Questions

Is there a free version?

New subscribers to the annual plan get a free trial of Unlimited. Devices that received free traffic in earlier versions keep what is left of it.

Do I need an email or a password?

No. Apple handles the purchase and ties it to your Apple Account; sNova never asks for your email.

Can I use one subscription on my iPhone and iPad?

Yes. Use the same Apple Account and tap Restore Purchases in Settings.
